October Newsletter

Welcome to our monthly newsletter. We are very excited to fill you in on what has been happening in school in October and to let you know about our November events!

Theme for the Month: Responsibility

“Respect is a two-way street, if you want to get it, you’ve got to give it.”

– R.G. Risch

Showing respect for others is one of the most important values in the world.  It means showing care for another person or thing, like the environment. Without respect, everything around you would be less peaceful.  You show respect in many ways everyday that you may not even realise! Being respectful is one of the key ingredients to being the best person you can be. We always try hard to show respect towards one another in school and at home too!

Flu Vaccination

Flu vaccinations are on 10th November 2016 and will be administered by the school nursing team.

Maths Week Ireland 2016

What a great week of marvellous maths! Everyone in school had a great time accepting Mrs O’Reilly’s Maths challenges! There was a fantastic buzz in school as everyone was engaged and engrossed in their challenges. We had feet in paint in Year 1 and 2. Year 3 and 4 took part in a variety of measuring activities to prove who the tallest was and Year 5,6, and 7 investigated the correlation between height and arm span. The week ended in celebration whole school activities involving water balloons!

A great week’s work was enjoyed by the pupils and staff alike. Many thanks Mrs O’Reilly for organising the events!

School Council

All our pupils have taken part in class council meetings and have put forward some super ideas about how they would like to see our school continue to grow and develop.  Key Stage 2 children have worked really hard on their manifestos and campaigns in their quest to be elected as School Council representatives. It was a privilege to listen to P5/6/7 speeches and some of their campaign pledges were very interesting.   We look forward to completing the election, revealing our elected members and continuing to work in partnership with our students.

Our School Council work was put into action when our P7 pupils visited Stormont. They were the only children able to answer questions about manifestos! Some future politicians in the making!
