Welcome to our new monthly newsletter. We are very excited to fill you in on what has been happening in school in September and to let you know about our October events!

Theme for the Month: Responsibility

"You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge of..”

— Jim Rohn

As we begin a new school year we aim to take responsibility for our learning journeys and our personal development. We set targets, we draw up class contracts and we use these to ensure we are taking responsibility for our learning and our behaviour. This is a great time of the year to look at our goals and to aim high. We believe in every one of you. We reach for the stars in Carnlough CIPS!

We are very pleased to welcome our new pupils to school. Our Primary One children have settled beautifully and we look forward to you completing your first full day on Tuesday 4th October. Parents can collect the children from the school gate at 2pm. The children will be staying for lunch so a dinner menu will be attached for those wishing to have school dinners. The price is £2.50 per day.

Clothes labels

Please ensure items of school uniform are clearly marked with names/name tag. It is impossible to keep track of items if they are not named.

Flu Vaccination

Please return any outstanding flu vaccination forms regardless of whether your child is receiving the immunisation. The forms need to be given to the school nurse.

Clothes Bin

We had our clothes recycling bin emptied last week and were very pleased to receive a cheque of £99. This is a great way to supplement school funds. We would be grateful if you keep this in mind when clearing out clothes, materials, bedclothes, shoes etc.

Another exciting development in September has been the launch of our new website! Many thanks to Natasha Barakat for all her hard work in creating the website. We are looking forward to using this to show you all the great learning and fun that goes on in our school. We would be grateful if you could read, fill in and return the attached letter regarding receiving notes via the website as opposed to paper copies.

We welcomed visitors to our school in the third week of term as part of the school inspection process. We were very pleased to receive lots of positive feedback, especially in relation to our brilliant pupils and the warm and welcoming atmosphere in our school. We are so proud of how the children showcased the school and we look forward to continuing to work hard together for everyone in school.

Roald Dahl Day

Thank you to Mrs O’Reilly for organising Roald Dahl Day. We all enjoyed a variety of activities in each of the classes and listening to some of his amazing stories. We are on the hunt for golden tickets hidden in our school library too! Library days are Tuesday and Thursday and I would encourage all children to remember their library cards if they wish to borrow books from Carnlough library.
