Welcome to our monthly newsletter. We are very excited to fill you in on what has been happening in school in November and to let you know about our December events!

Theme for the Month: Caring

‘Even the smallest act of caring for another person is like a drop of water – it will make ripples throughout the entire pond.’

Jessy and Bryan Matteo

As we enter into the season of Advent we take time to think about the meaning of Christmas. We have been discussing how we can prepare for Christmas and think that caring for and giving to others is a great way to prepare ourselves for Christmas and remind ourselves what Christmas is all about. We have a special advent calendar in school which allows us to carry out daily acts of kindness. Another great way to care for others around us.

Welcome Back!

We welcome back Miss O’Neill to her post as school crossing patrol following maternity leave. Many thanks to Mr Davey for filling in.

Unfortunately we have had the winter vomiting bug in school. We would remind parents and carers that children should not be in school until they are at least 24 hours clear of vomiting. This is to stop the spread of bugs which can be extremely harmful for vulnerable groups such as infants, pregnant women and the elderly.

After Schools Provision

After schools clubs have been proving very popular and we are so pleased to see so many children engaging in a variety of activities. We really look forward to drawing up a new timetable of provision in the new year. Our linguists have been doing an excellent job at A World of Languages Club, there has been lots of exploring at The Great Outdoors Club and the art projects from P1 and 2 look awesome! Learning together, learning more!

Anti-bullying Week

We celebrated anti-bullying week with a special assembly to help us think about what bullying is and what we in our school can do to ensure we have a bullying-free zone. We know who we can talk to in school if anything is making us feel unhappy.

Carnlough CIPS Has Talent!

We are so proud to announce that we had two competition winners for the Credit Union art competition ‘What Happiness Means to Me’. Well done to Hannah Crooks and Keera Burleigh who won 1st and 2nd place respectively in the 8-10 years category! Thank you to everyone who took part.

Pusdey’s PJ Party

As part of our commitment to care for others we enjoyed a PJ party in aid of Pudsey for Children in Need. We raised just over £150 so many thanks for the kind donations and raffle money. A great day was enjoyed by all.

Let’s Go Giant’s Lets Go!

Last Friday we enjoyed a fabulous evening at the SSE Arena to watch the Friendship Four Tournament. The atmosphere was fantastic and it was great to experience something a bit different. Our children were so well behaved and as always did us proud with the excellent manners and example set and the sing-song on the way home pleased George the coach driver who even asked for more!!

Open Day

We welcomed lots of little visitors to the Foundation Stage classroom yesterday. They enjoyed a fantastic play session and we look forward to welcoming the children back in September. Open enrolment forms are now available from the school office.
