Theme for the Month: Giving

"We make a living by what we get,

but we make a life by what we give." - Winston Churchill

We have been thinking a lot about preparing for the season of Christmas. We are all so excited about presents, Santa, tinsel and trees and that is ok. But we have also discussed how we can prepare for Christmas in other ways. Thinking about giving is a great way to prepare. At this time of the year we give presents for which we always show gratitude but we can give more. We can think of others less fortunate than ourselves and give something back. We can give of our time by visiting others, sharing a smile, saying a kind word, helping at home or doing a job for someone. We can give as an act of charity to food banks, charity collectors, donating items to charity shops. We can give by showing our family and friends love and kindness. In our school this year we have been focussing on giving through our Acts of Kindness Advent calendar.

Let’s give and give with love, especially during the season of Christmas! This is feels even more important this year with everything that we have faced.

Carnlough CIPS Celebrations!

Well done to our fantastic artists! We had a prize winner in the annual Credit Union competition who received a fantastic prize! Well done everyone. Congratulations too to the winners of the Carnlough Community Association Christmas card competition also. What a talented bunch you are!

PTA Christmas Raffle

Our annual craft fair could not take place this year. The PTA decided we should be giving back to businesses that have always supported us through the years as well as providing prizes that could help ease the burden of Christmas. They have part funded vouchers from a variety of local businesses and have also donated generously the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes. The tickets can be purchased through PayPal via this link

Tickets cost £2.50 each and the draw will take place on Friday 17th December. Good luck everyone!

After Schools Provision

Our after-school provision for Term 1 has now finished. This was the last week of after-schools.  In the New year we will be drawing up a new timetable of after-school provision subject to relevant health and safety advice. If you have any preference for particular activities, please let us know. Even though we cannot guarantee them all, we do love to hear your thoughts. We truly value our positive home/school connections.  Learning together, learning more!

Christmas Concert

We have been working hard on rehearsing this year’s amazing Nativity performance. The Christmas Code will be professionally recorded on Thursday 16th December in the Methodist Church. We extend our thanks to Henry and Betty for allowing us the use of the church to record this special story. We will keep parents/carers posted as to the date of the premiere. We know you will not want to miss this most special show!

Open Day

Unfortunately, once again we find ourselves unable to host our annual open day as normal. However, we would like to welcome families choosing a school for their child/children for September 2022 to come and see what Carnlough Integrated PS is all about. This will have to be done in a controlled, measured and safe way. We do not want anyone to have to isolate over Christmas holidays!  The school will be open for individual family visits from 3pm on Tuesday 14th December. Parents should book a time slot by contacting the office on 02828 885272 or by email cmulholland210@c2ken.net. Health and safety measures will be in operation for everyone’s safety. We encourage you to remind family and friends of the date. We welcome everyone to our school and would love families come and experience our caring, nurturing and truly integrated family school.
